This exhibition is the result of the Interior Design Laboratory, first year of Master Degree, given by the teachers Andrea Branzi, Michele De Lucchi and Francesca Balena Arista at the Design School in the Politecnico of Milan, with the supervision of Marco De Santi, Paola Silva Coronel and Chiara Fauda Pichet. After the “Aesthetics of Misery”, presented last year at Palazzo Litta too, this time the meditation is focalized on the subject of Caos as interpretation of the contemporary world. The XXI Century is an age characterized by the markets complexity, by the world population increase, by religion wars. It’s an age where “the design lost its own project”. Students have been invited to think about the living spaces where the contemporary person lives. He’s inclined to interpret his own habitat as a place only partially organized, according to the traditional domestic functions: the environments hold unexpected activities, represented by creative work, music, fashion, human relationships. The 14 models,1:10 scale, realized by the students, are evocative and narrative sceneries, extremely different from one another, everyone carrying a particular interpretation of the subject. Often they are characterized by a patient, heroic work of miniaturization, and reproduce hundreds of very small objects belonging to the commodities universe that is wrapping up and surrounding us. A new relieving vision is emerging. The Caos is no longer seen as a disaster caused by an order absence, but as a positive presence: once we thought that we needed rules, today no more. The Caos is the law governing the Universe. In collaboration with OIKOS, colour and matter for architecture.
