Designer: Mario Trimarchi

Palazzo Visconti
Via Cino del Duca, 8

The Close to the Edge collection is made of stones and glass, which comes from the ancient Japanese art of Suiseki. An art that is about learning how to reduce one’s self, to relativize one’s bodily and spiritual presence in relation to the world around one.

An exercise in modesty, then, and respect for nature and its forces.
Mario Trimarchi’s work has always been inhabited by the air; summer wind gusts, Chinese shadows, the light stroke of graphite, and the ability to transform the random beauty of the surrounding world into poetry.ù

In this impalpable territory, the collection of stones and glass from Close to the Edge finds its place as boundary objects.

Architect and designer, seeks to grasp the poetic soul of objects. He has worked for Olivetti Design Studio, designing PCs and cash dispensers. He directed the master’s course in design at Domus Academy and is the founder of FRAGILE, a corporate identity practice. He won the Compasso d’Oro with the Ossidiana coffee pot for Alessi. In 2019 he presented his first personal show in Paris entitled “Mario Trimarchi. Un romantique radical. Réflexion, dessins et objets en équilibre”.
