A Matter of Perception: Tradition&Technology – Palazzo Litta, Corso Magenta 24, Milano

The exhibition is supported by: Vitra

In the last hundred years, many designers have explored the possibility of increasing the comfort of the seat with the movement of some elements of the structure (cantilever chairs) or tensing a fabric between two aluminum profiles as an elastic supporting element. Physix also is a part of this line of research and through the use of materials and contemporary technologies, realizes a structure that combines flexible elements to rigid elements with the result of a dynamic sitting. The frame structure, made of polyamide, has rigid areas but thins to be deformed as a flexible hinge so as to follow the movement of the body during its backward tilt. A unique knitted fabric, stretched between the side guides, is elastic so as to allow a three-dimensional deformation of the shell. A mechanism, in which the seat and back rest move synchronously in a pre determined ratio brings back the user in its original position. In one area of the room you will be able to personally experience these features and take a picture of you and Physix.
