A Matter of Perception: Linking Minds – Palazzo Litta, Corso Magenta 24, Milano

Squid is a transparent, self-adhesive textile used for window decoration but with endless potential for other applications. It offers privacy and sun protection, and can also be digitally printed to create decorative textile solutions. In the installation Echoes of Perception, designer Tommy Van den Brandt plays with the dual idea of light reflecting on the delicate textile structure of Squid while it is trying to pierce through the outside shell. He plays with perception by altering the outside world with the inside. At the same time, gravity is inverted and visitors can enjoy the upside-down by looking inside. Squid facilitates this effect in a captivating way through its structure and tactility. It shows its fascinating ability to sooth light while applied on glass and project a vague reflection leading to a moment of perception.
