Ossimori

Ossimori is Incalmi’s new research project, in collaboration with Debonademeo studio. The research starts with a reflection on words and colours. The name of the project is inspired by the oxymoron, or the juxtaposition of two opposing concepts. This led to the idea of making two opposites work together in design phraseology – matter and thought, shape and function, innovation and tradition. The first oxymoron used by Incalmi, sober opulence, inspired a family of modular furnishing accessories made of primary materials that contrast with each other on both a sensory and emotional level. The combination of transparencies and overlapping layers play with the observer’s perception depending on his or her physical point of view.
